This year Freshair is holding a LIVE Battle of the Bands contest in Teviot Underground on Tuesday 23rd March. Every week on “Evenings with Dave” we interview one of the 5 bands getting ready to fight it out for the winning prize: a slot at The Wickerman Festival. This week we have Vegas Loft in the studio for a chat and to perform a live acoustic set. Tune in every Thursday from 6.30 to get the build up to the Battle of the Bands. Following the success of Twist and Shout’s debut back in January, our amazing retro night returns on Thursday 22nd March at a new venue but with Fresh Air DJs Brash and Phoenix spinning the same fantastic 50s and 60s rock and pop to get you bopping and jiving the night away!

With tunes from the likes of Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Kinks, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Little Richard, T-Rex, The Doors, The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Jam, The Temptations, Pink Floyd, The Who, Buddy Holly, Buzzcocks and many more, there will be much dancing and you’ll be spoilt for choice of choice tunes!

So why not come down to to The Wee Red Bar, Edinburgh College of Art, at 10.30pm this Thursday to celebrate the end of Fresh Air’s semester two broadcast in style! All Teddy Boys and Girls, Mods, Rockers and GoGo Girls are welcome, and dressing up is encouraged: not only that, but drinks are fantastically cheap, so come along and bring your friends! Tickets are £4 on the door – £3 for students.

Tonight, Wednesday 14th March, Fresh Air presents a line-up of four excellent local bands and artists in one of thirteen live music events across the UK happening this week in aid of Comic Relief. It’s called Hearing Aid 2007: doors open at 7pm at Cabaret Voltaire on Blair Street in Edinburgh, and tickets are just £4 on the door, with all proceeds going to charity. Alternative dancefloor fillers from Edinburgh’s BEST indie clubs.

After an amazing eight week long internet broadcast, we decided it’s time to throw a bit of a party. This time it’s the turn of Edinburgh’s indie fraternity to show us how it’s done. Using the tried and tested Club Together ™ format of packing Edinburgh’s best clubs into one venue, on one night, Indie Club Together is a must for all fans of that which they call ‘indie’. From cynical scenesters to new faces wanting to try out what Edinburgh has to offer – come fall in love with handsome old names and adorable new crushes.

An indie affair with DJs from established names such as THE EGG and THE GO-GO, newer faces MISFITS, SPIES IN THE WIRES and I FLY SPITFIRES, and Edinburgh’s queer alternative DISKO BLOODBATH. Then there’s the trinity of punk/new wave disco’s THE GOULAG BEAT, DFRNT DRUM and FAST – all coming together with a common goal – to make you dance!
