I coordinate the FreshAir.org.uk Music Team. The main aim of the music team is to discover new and exciting music, and make sure it gets heard by the rest of the station, and more importantly, by the listeners. The team meets once a week to check out what FreshAir.org.uk has received in the postbag. We get sent CDs by companies wanting feedback from students so that record labels can assess what we're into. This means we get a lot of current releases with a reaction sheet that needs to be filled in and returned. It is also my job to liase with promo companies to organise free gig tickets and interviews with artists. To become a part of all this, get involved in the music team! We also submit our recommendations for the national student radio chart, and host the chart show from our own studio a couple of times per year. Come the time of the broadcast, the music team puts together its own live show. We create the content, present and produce the show. This is a really good way for new members without radio experience to get tips from older members, and for less confident people to get their voices on the airwaves without taking on a whole show.
