Robin Ince's Book Launch

A clever guy writes a book about bad books, or those which you didn’t know you didn’t have to read, as the book’s blurb says. Outside the Fringe programme, this Thursday night show in a Morningside Community centre sees tufty and lovely Ince enlist help of Messers Lee, Eldon and Pretty to create a musical version of a book about killer crabs “as big as beach donkeys”. Swanee whistles create glee and silliness but also indicate the skilful wit of the practitioners. People laugh through serious means, here the state of contemporary literature and how Ince has crammed his head full of useless rubbish. Reading passages of his three-hundred-page book brought them to life, showing him to be erudite. He even signed the book at the end. A true gent and a delight to watch. Just beware the tap-dancing killer crabs…
