FreshAir will be there every night reviewing and recording the shows as well as bringing you exclusive interviews and sessions with performers and organisers so stay tuned to the Music Team Show on Mondays 5-7 for everything you need to follow the action whether you’re a fan of Folk or Electro-Pop.

Thursday October 10th: Miaoux Miaoux, Jonnie Common, Cairn String Quartet

Fans of Hot Chip and Com Truise will love Edinburgh-based producer and launch night headliner Julian Corrie (Miaoux Miaoux)’s perfectly constructed electro-pop melodies with great vocals and a pretty impressive live setup. James Houston’s visuals and the Cairn String Quartet ought to make this headline set something very special as tracks from SAY-Nominated debut LP ‘Light of the North’ get aired in the Pleasance. Glasgow-based critics’ favourite Jonnie Common will provide perfectly chosen support with his Beta Band-esque folky trip-pop being one of the most original and astute lo-fi voices in recent Scottish music.

Friday October 11th: Gerry Loves Records Present: John Knox Sex Club and Over The Wall

DIY Label Gerry Loves Records have been putting out stellar local releases from acts like PAWS, Yahweh and Adam Stafford on wax since early 2011 and tonight they’ve chosen two of the most vital and unique acts in Scotland to come back and treat the Pleasance Sessions audience to what’s sure to be one of the best nights of live music in Edinburgh this year. Since Stirlingshire’s John Knox Sex Club headlined 2012’s FreshAir Festival, they’ve taken a year off from recording and playing their two formidable Bad Seeds-influenced albums in characteristically engaging and accomplished gigs. Meanwhile, ‘Euphoric Pop Folk Rock’ duo Over The Wall are playing one of their first gigs since 2011 (as well as a session on Freshair) and, like the headliners, are sure to put on a fantastic and inventive show full of new material.
