Sexual harassment at gigs is definitely nothing new. Generations of women have been shouting loudly about it, but it still remains in the mosh pits and at the barriers of most guitar driven gigs. One particularly harrowing encounter led a group of Scottish teens to band together and try to change something. Girls Against is a platform for, mostly girls, to recall their experiences of harassment at shows and engage with artists, venues and gig-goers to bring about a positive change.
Hannah and Annie, two of the founders of Girls Against, came into the studio for the FreshAir music team show and discussed why Girls Against is so necessary right now and how we can, hopefully in time, bring an end to a practice that puts so many young music lovers off watching their favourite bands and having a dance.
