FreshAir News understands that Tommer Spence, who was running for VPS and VPSA of EUSA has been disqualified from the election.
A source has confirmed to FreshAir News that Mr Spence is appealing the disqualification but results will have to be postponed until after that appeal.
This means that results for VPS and VPSA won’t be announced this evening.
Fellow VPS candidate, Tasha Boardman, gave her reaction:
VPS Candidate Luke Campbell:
VPSA Candidate Eve Livingston:
It’s understood that EUSA is trying to convene the appeals committee before the results party tonight as “it’s pretty clear cut” but it involves getting the rector and the director of the law school together to discuss the situation.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that it may be because of an issue around Mr Spence’s posters, as reported by blogging site EUSA Fishes:
“We hear that Tommer Spence, who is running for both VPS and VPSA, has had his posters removed by EUSA staff. This is most likely due to election regulation 2.3.1, which relates to printed material:
“Candidates standing for more than one position must order separate publicity for each position, and such publicity must specify the particular position to which it relates.”
Though Mr Spence Tweeted the posters had been declared legal:
