Comedian Fred MacAuley, Alex Jones and Kaiser Chief frontman Ricky Wilson launched the concert at Edinburgh Castle
A massive summer party is being planned in the capital, complete with star-studded line-up.
Kaiser Chiefs, Smokey Robinson and One Republic have all been announced for Live at Edinburgh Castle which will be aired on BBC One before the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.
Tickets go on sale today for the concert on Saturday 19th July which will be hosted by The One Show’s Alex Jones.
Speaking at the launch event at Edinburgh Castle yesterday Alex Jones said: “I am so excited to be presenting Live at Edinburgh Castle with such an incredible line-up.”
“I can’t imagine a better backdrop than Edinburgh. It is going to be a fantastic night for those coming along or watching at home.”
The “incredible line-up” will include; Rizzle Kicks, Paloma Faith, Katherine Jenkins, Il Divo, Taio Cruz, Alfie Boe and Pumeza – with more names to be announced.
Performances will be interspersed with comedy while some of the performances will be accompanied by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and a house band, led by Mike Stevens.
Executive Producer Guy Freeman says: “We are delighted that such an exciting array of incredibly talented artists are coming together for what will undoubtedly be a magical night, at this iconic venue.”
“With rock, pop, classical and comedy performances, it will be a great summer party, for everyone in the family to enjoy.”
