Lothian and Borders police are currently appealing for witnesses after a rape was reported in the Meadows in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Two sections of the Bruntsfield Links were cordoned off this morning as forensic experts investigated the scene.

This comes after a seperate report at the weekend, where a woman contacted police about an alleged rape at Rick’s Hotel on Frederick Street around 2am on Sunday morning. Following a night out at the club Lulu, the woman left with a man. The pair went back to the hotel, where he reportedly raped her, and then left. He was described as white, between 5ft 8in and 6ft tall, with a stocky build and dark hair. He spoke with an Eastern European accent.

Anyone with any information regarding either incident is urged to contact the police immediately (0131 311 3131).

We will have more on these stories tomorrow (Wednesday 16th November) on the news team show from 4-5pm.
